Different Pump Performance Differences
Mar 18, 2025| The performance parameters of the pump mark the performance of the pump. Pump performance parameters and the relationship between them are the basis for pump selection and flow regulation. The performance difference of various types of pumps plays a very important role in selection and use.
1. Centrifugal pump
The liquid fills the pump shell, the impeller rotates at a high speed, the liquid produces a high speed under the action of centrifugal force, and the high-speed liquid passes through the gradually expanding pump shell channel, and the dynamic pressure head is transformed into a static pressure head. Attention should be paid to prevent the occurrence of cavitation and gas binding.
The flow range of the centrifugal pump is large, and the flow and pressure are smooth and without fluctuations.
The centrifugal pump has a high revolution, can be directly connected with the motor and steam turbine, and the transmission mechanism is simple and compact.
Convenient and reliable operation, easy adjustment and maintenance, and easy to achieve automation and remote operation.
Compared with the reciprocating pump of the same index, the centrifugal pump has a simple and compact structure, small size, light weight, fewer parts, convenient manufacturing, low cost, and small footprint, so its equipment and repair costs are lower.
2. Multistage centrifugal pump
Equivalent to a number of centrifugal pumps in series, one-stage supercharging, can obtain a high pressure head.
Multistage centrifugal pump compared with a single stage pump, the difference is that the multistage pump has more than two impingers, which can be segmented and multi-stage water intake and pressure, so as to lift the water to a high position, and the head can be increased or decreased according to the need of the pump impeller. Multistage pump is mainly used for mine drainage, city and factory water supply, agricultural irrigation with little, only suitable for high head, small flow of high mountain water to solve the difficulty of drinking water for people and animals.
Multistage high core pump has two types of vertical and horizontal multistage centrifugal pump pump shaft is equipped with two cascaded impeller, it is relative to the general single-stage centrifugal pump, can also achieve higher head; Compared with reciprocating pumps such as piston pumps and diaphragm pumps, it can also pump a larger flow rate. The multi-stage centrifugal pump has high efficiency and can meet the needs of high head and high flow conditions, and has been widely used in petrochemical, chemical, electric power, construction, fire and other industries.
3. Gear pump
The teeth of the two gears separate from each other, forming a low pressure, and the liquid is sucked in and sent to the other side of the shell wall. The other side of the two gears close each other, forming a high pressure to discharge the liquid.
Simple and compact structure, small size, light weight, good process, cheap price, strong self-suction, insensitive to oil pollution, large speed range, impact load resistance, easy maintenance, reliable work.
4. Screw pump
The double screw pump is very similar to the gear pump, a screw rotates, drives another screw, the liquid is intercepted in the meshing chamber, advances along the shaft direction, and then is squeezed to the center discharge.
1) Wide range of pressure and flow;
2) Wide range of types and viscosity of liquids transported;
3) Because the inertia force of the rotating parts in the pump is low, it can use a high speed;
4) Good aspiration, with self-imbibition ability;
5) Uniform and continuous flow, small vibration, low noise;
6) Compared with other rotary pumps, it is less sensitive to incoming gas and dirt;
7) Solid structure, easy installation and maintenance.
5. Reciprocating pump
Reciprocating pump is a positive displacement pump. When the flow rate provided by the pump is greater than the required flow rate of the pipeline, part of it is required to return to the reciprocating pump inlet and bypass regulation.
(1) High discharge pressure can be obtained, and the flow is independent of pressure, the suction can be good, and the efficiency is high, among which the steam reciprocating pump can reach 80% to 95%;
(2) In principle, it can transport any medium, almost not limited by the physical or chemical properties of the medium;
(3) The performance of the pump does not change with the pressure and the viscosity of the conveying medium.
Other pumps do not have the above outstanding advantages of reciprocating pumps, but their structure is relatively simple, the use of operation is more convenient, but also small size, light weight, uniform flow, and can be serialized mass production advantages.
